CAMP FLORENDO, La Union — The suspected leader of the Cabuena Drug Group, listed as a Level 2 high-value target (HVT) in President Duterte’s narco-list in Region 1, was shot and killed in Barangay Nanguneg, Narvacan, Ilocos Sur last Thursday, police said.
Chief Inspector Marcelo S. Martinez, Narvacan chief of police, identified the fatality as Abraham A. Cabuena, of Barangay Cagayungan, same town, and whose group was allegedly involved in illegal drug trafficking in Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, and Baguio City
Martinez said Cabuena was riding his black Honda TMX 125 motorcycle along the road in Barangay Nanguneg when two armed men allegedly gunned him down around 10:30 a.m.
Chief Superintendent Romulo E. Sapitula, Police Regional Office 1 (PRO1) director, said that apart from the seven bullet casings and four slugs from a .45-caliber firearm lifted from the crime scene, probers also found cash and two cellphones in Cabuena’s possession.
