The Philippines dominated the 14th International Mathematics Contest (IMC) held in Singapore from July 28-29.
Filipino students won 27 gold, 53 silver and 116 bronze medals at the contest, according to the Mathematics Trainers Guild-Philippines (MTG).
The Philippines placed first with 27 gold medals followed by China, 25; Taiwan, 13; Vietnam, 12; and Indonesia, 10.
Filbert Ephraim Wu of Victory Christian International School emerged as champion in the Grade 7 level for being the top scorer.
“Their performance is outstanding and we are very happy that their training paid off. They brought another honor to the Philippines,” MTG officer Dr. Simon Chua said of the students.
Accompanying the students were MTG president Dr. Isidro Aguilar and vice president Dr. Eduardo dela Cruz.
Other countries and regions which participated in the IMC included Singapore, Thailand, South Korea and Malaysia.
