2 women, 4 men nabbed in Caloocan

Six people, including two women, were nabbed after they were caught allegedly having pot session inside a house in Caloocan City Sunday morning.

Police identified the suspects as Henrico Asis,44, vendor; Castor Cajipo, 49, jobless; Jobeth Dayag, 43, tricycle driver; Kenneth Sangreo, 33, helper; Jane Bernal, 32, jobless; and Leah Salazar, 43, jobless.

Elements from Police Community Precinct were patrolling in Barangay 176 in Bagong Silang around 6 a.m.when a concerned citizen reported an ongoing pot session.

Upom verification, the policemen caught six suspects allegedly sniffing shabu inside Salazar’s house.

Police said they recovered four sachets of suspected shabu and drug paraphernalia.

Charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or The Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 are now being prepared against the suspects. (Kate Javier)

15 families rendered homeless in Navotas fire

Atleast 15 familes were rendered homeless when a three-hour blaze broke out in a two-storey apartment in Navotas City Saturday afternoon.

Fire Officer 2 Arbin Locahin said the fire started at the ceiling of one of the units located along Santillan Street in Barangay San Jose around 2 p.m.

The fire quickly spread to six other units mostly made of combustible materials.

At least 15 families were affected by the fire which reached the third alarm.

Around 10 fire trucks responded to extinguish the blaze that was declared out at around 5 p.m.

Meanwhile, a firefighter was reportedly injured after he fell from the roof while battling the blaze. (Kate Javier)

Multiple collision on Shaw: 1 dead, at least 15 injured

A passenger died after he was thrown off the jeepney he was riding, while 15 others were injured in an eight-vehicle collision in Mandaluyong City Saturday night.

Police said Otto Remmollo, 42, was driving a dump truck (UPH 898) when he allegedly lost his brake along Shaw Boulevard flyover at 7:45 p.m. and hit a jeepney.

After the jeepney was hit, Gil Aurio, one of the passengers, got thrown off due to the strong impact. Aurio was a resident of Barangay Pinagbuhatan, Pasig.

Remollo said that he tried several times to stop his vehicle by stepping on the brake, investigation said.

The dump truck then hit the right portion of a Honda CRV and subsequently a passenger jeepney, and six other vehicles.

The injured victims were rushed to the three nearest hospitals, namely Victor R Potenciano Hospital, Rizal Medical, and Mandaluyong City Medical Center.

Remmollo was immediately placed under police custody after the incident. (Jel Santos)
