No less than PNP chief, Director General Oscar Albayalde, will escort Parojinog back to jail after his expected arrival at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) in Pasay City Friday night.

Parojinog is set to return tonight after a three-man team tasked to bring him back to the Philippines from Pingtung Detention Center was sent by the PNP on Thursday.

However, it was not clear whether Parojinog will be detained at the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), PNP Custodial Center or at Ozamiz City Police’s detention facility pending the decision of a local court.

Parojinog has warrants of arrest for cases of illegal possession of firearms and explosives (Republic Act 10591, RA 9516) before the Department of Justice (DOJ). Aside from that, he also has a warrant of arrest for murder in a local court in Ozamiz City.

Meanwhile, Chief Inspector Jovie Espenido, head of Ozamiz City Police Office, said he will appeal to the local court to let them handle the custodial investigation of Parojinog.

He said the arrested councilor will play an important role to determine who are the other “big fishes” in the illegal drug trade in the city and the province of Misamis Occidental.

Parojinog was arrested on May 23, 2018 after he used illegal immigration documents to enter Taiwan. He was sentenced for three months in prison and fine of NT$1,000 per day (New Taiwan dollars).

This was after he turned fugitive for 10 months since the bloody raid that was conducted by the police at their residence in July 2017.

His older brother, Ozamiz City Mayor Reynaldo “Aldong” Parojinog was killed in the said operation while an arms cache, various explosives and drug paraphernalia were found by the police. Reynaldo’s wife and at least 14 others were also killed in the same raid.

Meanwhile, Reynaldo’s children, Ozamiz City Vice-Mayor Nova Princess and Reynaldo Jr. were arrested and are currently facing charges for illegal possession of firearms, explosives and drugs before the Quezon City Regional Trial Court. Authorities said that they also have connections inside the New Bilibid Prisons (NBP) in Muntinlupa City, where the proliferation of illegal drugs remains a problem.

Reynaldo Parojinog was tagged by President Duterte as among the key players in the proliferation of illegal drugs in Ozamiz City and parts of Mindanao.
