LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – The Police Regional Office-Cordillera arrested two individuals and seized P152,942.98 worth of wood products following a series of anti-illegal logging operations in the Cordillera region.
Chief Superintendent Rolando Nana, Cordillera police regional director, said Elpidio Ortiz Molina Jr. 39, of Barangay Pakiling, Bucay, Abra was driving a truck loaded with 10 pieces of Acacia flitches with a total volume of 163.99 board feet, when he was intercepted along Patiao, Peñarrubia, Abra last July 7.
By virtue of a search warrant, businessman Rodolfo Agustin Tegui-in, 57, was nabbed in his residence in Alfonso Lista, Ifugao last July 4.
He yielded 4,124 board feet of Lawaan lumber with an estimated market value of P123,743.00.
The arrested suspects, together with the seized items are now under the custody of concerned authorities.
Appropriate charges have been filed against them in court.
Nana directive all police units to sustain the relentless drive against illegal logging.
