The Philippines hosted Genfest 2018 from July 6 to 8, a unique gathering of young people from different countries who belong to different beliefs and religion, race, and culture.

An estimated 6,000 young delegates from over 100 countries attended the three-day event held in Tagaytay City.

Held every six years since 1973, this was the 11th edition of Genfest, which is usually held in Europe and which was held in
Asia for the first time.

“It is good to see that all people are coming from different countries, different cultures are united that gives a lot of hope.

Filipinos can show the best of their own qualities during this special occasion. So it is a good event also to spread a very positive image of the Filipino people to the world,” Caccia said over Church-run Radio Veritas.

“The title is Beyond Borders so the word of peace, the word of love in itself as a dimension which is universal and moving from one continent to another is the sign that we are following the right path,” he added.

The Papal Nuncio stressed the gathering is seen to have a positive effect on the young so they can bring the much- needed change to the world.

“It is a positive way to make people have hope for the future and especially for this new generation so they can bring a good change for a better world,” Caccia said.
