The real advocacy of the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) has always been to overthrow any sitting president of the republic.
This was stressed by Senator Panfilo M. Lacson, chairman of the Senate Public Order and Dangerous Drugs Committee, as he explained why President Duterte has refused to continue with the stalled peace talks.
The Duterte Administration has already abandoned restarting of talks with the communists, led by CCP founder Jose Maria Sison, upon the recommendation of Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana.
Lorenza cited military intelligence reports that while the government had been locked in peace talks with the CPP-New People’s Army-National Democratic Front (CPP-NPA-NDF), Sison’s group was actually plotting to unseat Duterte by October.
Asked for his insight into this matter in a radio interview on Saturday, Lacson said: “’Yan naman talaga ang advocacy ng CPP, kahit sino nakaupo e-overthrow kasi nga ang gusto nila coalition (That is their advocacy by first entering into coalitions and later ousting the sitting President).”
