Air Force chief Lt. Gen. Galileo Gerard R. Kintanar thanked President Rodrigo Roa Duterte for supporting the modernization of the Philippine Air Force (PAF).
Kintanar made the remark in a speech he delivered during PAF’s 71st Founding Anniversary held at the PAF Multi-Purpose Gymnasium, Col Jesus Villamor Air Base, Pasay City, on Tuesday.
President Duterte was the Guest of Honor during the anniversary rites which had a theme, “Blue Team @ Top Speed Integrating Efforts in Regaining Air Defense Capabilities for Peace and Resilient Development”.
“We are grateful to our president for his strong and unflinching support for the prioritized modernization of our capabilities which can be brought to bear at the front, rear, and center of our decisive engagement,” Kintanar told the crowd.
“We express our appreciation to our commander-in-chief for his ready commitment to support the second horizon of our modernization which includes the acquisition of multi-purpose rotary and fixed-wing assets as well as unmanned aerial and ground-based systems,” he added.
Kintanar also thanked other key government officials and agency heads for helping the PAF secure its footing at strategic locations nationwide.
Kintanar said as “PAF enters its 71st year of existence, it has also intensified its engagement with several air forces aside from its traditional allies in line with the Duterte government’s independent foreign policy program.”
