Three fishermen were caught red-handed while using dynamite in fishing in the waters off Ternate, Cavite, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) reported Friday.
The fishers, according to the Coast Guard, were caught on act during a maritime security patrol conducted by the local coast guard unit off El Fraile, Ternate, Cavite last Monday.
Authorities identified the fishermen as Lodo Baniola, 54; Dennis Formanis, 50; Romil Rosel, 24; all are residents of Barangay Labac, Naic, Cavite.
Coast Guard said they spotted the fishers “while in the act of illegal fishing onboard an unnamed fishing banca.” They were later arrested for using dynamite while fishing.
Their catch found on the motorboat was confiscated. The fishermen were brought to the Coast Guard Sub-Station Naic for investigation and other maritime law enforcement procedures.
Appropriate charges were later filed against them in Ternate, Cavite, where the incident happened.
