BALANGA CITY, Bataan — One of the recipients of the 56th Ten Outstanding Students of the Philippines (TOSP) foresees Balanga City as an emerging center for technology in the country, while a five-star resort hotel executive sees also a greater potential for tourism in this province.
TOSP awardee Kevin Facun lauded Balanga City under the leadership of Mayor Francis S. Garcia, an information technology (IT) expert, for promoting innovation and recognizing technology in molding an inclusive and progressive future for their constituents.
“It won’t be a surprise if in the succeeding years, Balanga City will be the center for technology for the Filipino people,” Facun said at Bataan People’s Center in Balanga City on Friday.
Earlier this week, an executive of the Las Casas Filipinas de Acuzar – a world-class hotel located in Bagac, Bataan – predicted a boom in the tourism industry of the province.
Dubbed as Bataan’s pride for being one of the magnets of tourism in the province, Las Casas is now going globally, said Erwin Doña III, hotel marketing director.
Citing the increasing occupancy of their hotel, Doña said tourism is doing better for Bataan because of the initiatives of Governor Abet Garcia in promoting the province.
“They are now targeting their market as far as Japan, China, Korea and other countries,” he said of Garcia’s tourism program, adding that Las Casas is also preparing in anticipation of a bigger foreign patronage.
