TUY, Batangas — A 14- year-old girl whom police believed a victim of rape slay was found floating at the creek half-naked, here, Wednesday night.
A report from Batangas Police Provincial Office (BPPO) said Mylene Panaligan, a resident of Barangay San Jose, this town, was found dead at the creek with hack wound in the neck and without lower garments.
Police investigation disclosed that the victim was left alone by his brother Jaypee, 18, inside their house at 12 noon, Tuesday.
When Jaypee returned home barely two hours and a half, he realized that his sister was missing. He then sought help from other relatives to find the victim.
Senior Police Officer 3 Victor Creus, case investigator, said a neighbor witnessed Beltran Caringal, victim’s cousin who lives nearby, roaming around the victim’s home and was seen near the creek before the incident.
Caringal was found by a relative named Pablo Panaligan at around 8:55 p.m. after a day of searching for the missing victim.
Arrested Caringal, 29, however denied the accusation and stated he was pasturing his cow and carabao in the place, said PO3 Creus.
Victim’s body was brought to Blue Cross Funeral Homes for autopsy.
