Comelec allocates P174-M for lease of external batteries

The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) has allocated more than P174 million for the lease of 97,350 units of external batteries for the vote counting machines that will be used in the May 2019 midterm polls.

In its Invitation to Bid, the COMELEC Bids and Awards Committee (BAC) said it has allocated P174,990,519 for the lease of the external batteries for the VCMs, or P1,797.54 per external battery.

Comelec-BAC said bids received in excess of the ABC shall be automatically rejected at bid opening set on July 2, 10 am at the Comelec Session Hall, 8th Floor, Palacio del Gobernador Bldg., General Luna cor. Postigo Sts., Intramuros, Manila.

The Pre-Bid Conference for prospective bidders will be held on June 18, at 10 am in the same venue.

“Bids must be duly received by the BAC Secretariat on or before 9 am of July 2,” said BAC.

It added that late bids shall not be accepted.

Interested bidders may obtain a complete set of bidding documents from June 5 to July 2.

Aside from the external batteries, the Comelec also started the bidding process for the supply and delivery of 1,168,200 rolls of thermal papers which has an approved budget of P117,439,146, or P100.53 per roll.

The COMELEC Bids and Awards Committee (BAC) has started the public bidding for the lease of external batteries for the Vote Counting Machines (VCMs) and the supply of thermal papers to be used as voter receipts.

The COMELEC – BAC said the poll body has allocated P174,990,519 for the lease of 97,350 units of external batteries for the VCMs, or P1,797.54 per external battery.

On the other hand, the COMELEC – BAC said the approved budget for the contract (ABC) for the supply of 1,168,200 rolls of thermal papers is set at P117,439,146, or P100.53 per roll.

BAC said prospective bidders should have completed within five years from the date of submission and receipt of bids, a contract similar to the project.

Bidding will be conducted through open competitive bidding procedures using a non-discretionary “pass/fail” criterion.

BAC also set the date of the Pre Bid Conference and Bid Opening on June 18 and July 2, respectively.
