A pregnant lawyer of the Office of the Ombudsman was stabbed to death by yet to be identified suspect who allegedly robbed her in Quezon City, Monday morning.
Quezon City Police District director Chief Superintendent Joselito Esquivel Jr., identified the victim as Atty. Madona Joy Ednaco-Tanyag, a 32-year-old assistant special prosecutor of the Office of the Ombudsman, and a resident of Marikina City.
Esquivel said that Tanyag was five-months pregnant according to her husband.
In an initial report from QCPD-Masambong Police Station (PS-2), Tanyag was heading back to his car along Visayas Avenue in Barangay Vasra, Quezon City around 11:20 a.m. after buying a milk tea in the area.
While on the driver’s seat of the car, a man holding a knife followed her and stabbed her on her chest before running away from the scene.
Barangay authorities rushed Tanyag to East Avenue Medical Center where she succumbed to stab wounds on her left chest.
According to the investigator, robbery is being eyed as motive as the mobile phone of the victim was missing in the crime scene.
Police said that Tanyag attended a hearing in Sandiganbayan earlier that day
Further investigation is underway to shed light on the incident.
