Villar, Cusi only billionaires in Duterte’s cabinet

Only two among all of President Duterte men surpassed the P1-billion mark as stated in their 2017 statement of assets, liabilities, and net worth (SALN).



Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Mark Villar has a net worth of P1,407,459,436. Department of Energy Secretary Alfonso Cusi has a net worth of P1,355,632,637.

Following the two billionaires are Finance Secretary Carlos Dominguez with P338,123,873; Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade, P303,233,620; Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Secretary Martin Andanar, P158,819,858.19; and Health Secretary Francisco Duque III, P120,138,954.

Also among the 10 richest Cabinet members are National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) chief Ernesto Pernia with P109,000,741.10; Foreign Affairs Secretary Alan Peter Cayetano, P55,688,862; Trade Secretary Ramon Lopez, P49,800,000; and Presidential Peace Adviser Jesus Dureza, P49,054,011.

National Anti-Poverty Commission (NPAC) head Secretary Liza Maza meanwhile declared the lowest with P1,186,500 of net worth.

Resigned Tourism Secretary Wanda Teo had a net worth of P48,288,216.96.

Meanwile, Agriculture Secretary Manny Piñol has a net worth of P26,968,536.34. Following him are Environment Secretary Roy Cimatu, P26,503,447; National Security Adviser Hermogenes Esperon, P25,245,000; and Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III, P15,750,000.

New Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra has a net worth of P14,329,498.71 as of April 7, 2018 or upon his assumption to the post.

Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana has a net worth of P7,657,141.16; Information and Communications Secretary Eliseo Rio, P7,631,790.61; Science and Technology Secretary Fortunato Dela Peña, P7,561,000; and Education Secretary Leonor Briones, P6,668,136.


The richest in the PCOO is Undersecretary (Usec) for Good Governance & GOCC’s George Apacible with P48,414,332.00; next is Assistant Secretary (Asec) Ramon Cualoping III, P6,303,852.93.
