MULANAY, Quezon — A 43-year-old village councilman who just got reelected last Monday was gunned down by a still unidentified shooter wearing a crash helmet in Barangay Sta. Rosa, this town, early morning.
Chief Inspector Joselito Araja, local chief of police, said Kagawad Felix Bariata Moldon, married and resident of Barangay Sta. Rosa was standing on the roadside when he was shot at 7:45 a.m.
Quoting witnesses, Araja said the gunman was wearing a black leather jacket and armed with a short firearm when he opened fire at Moldon at close range. The killer immediately fled the scene after the victim fell on the ground.
Residents helped take the village councilman to the Catanauan District Hospital in the neighboring municipality, but it was too late. Moldon succumbed to multiple bullet wounds in the body.
Araja said homicide investigators collected five bullet casings and two deformed slugs at the crime scene and that closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage in the area was under review in a bid to identify the assailant.
