Two mild tectonic earthquakes jolted Surigao del Norte and Maguindanao provinces, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) said.
However, the Surigao del Norte and Maguindanao provincial disaster risk reduction and management councils reported no damage or injury.
In its bulletin, Phivolcs said a 3.5 magnitude tremor was recorded at 6:55 a.m. on Thursday (May 17).
The epicenter was plotted 46 kilometers (km) northwest of Del Carmen town, Siargao Island, Surigao del Norte province.
The tremor had a shallow depth of only 1 km, it said.
On the same day (May 17), a magnitude 3.6 earthquake was also registered at 2:20 a.m., Phivolcs also said in its bulletin
The epicenter was traced only 6 km southwest of Buldon, Maguindanao province, it also said.
The earthquake had also a shallow depth of only 1 km, Phivolcs said.
The two tremors were tectonic in origin and no tsunami alert or aftershock was raised by the state agency.
