President Duterte has promised to do his best to help the people amid efforts to finalize an executive order that seeks to stop “endo” or end of contract practice by some companies.

The President said he has sought time to review the draft EO on endo, adding he knows about the “unrest” in the labor sector about the matter.

“Nagpaalam ho ako that I’d be late for about 30 minutes ‘yung endo — ang pinagkaguluhan ngayon contractualization. There was another copy submitted to me mga 10 minutes before 3 o’clock. Sabi ko I would need time,” he said at the said at the start of the awarding ceremony for the fallen Special Action Force troopers in Malacañang.

“Eh nagmamadali pati ‘yung unrest ng labor. So we are trying our best to help the Filipino people,” he added.

Malacañang earlier announced that the President would sign the executive order to stop endorsing on or before May 1 Labor Day. Duterte was supposed to meet with labor leaders in Malacañang last Monday but the assembly was cancelled.

Presidential spokesman Harry Roque said it appeared there was no agreement among the labor, management and government on the final version of the EO.

“It is a promise given by the President to labor groups that it will be an EO that will side with the labor forces,” he said.
