BUTUAN CITY – A magnitude 4.4 earthquake struck Davao Oriental province Monday morning, April 16, 2018, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
In its bulletin, Phivolcs said the tremor was registered at 11:53 a.m.
The epicenter was traced 7 kilometers (km) northeast from Cateel town, Davao Oriental province.
The tremor had a depth of 75 km, it said.
Damage and aftershocks were not expected, Phivolcs said.
The earthquake was tectonic in origin and no tsunami alert was raised by the state agency.
