6 men maul guard
A security guard was mauled and hacked by six men Sunday in Tondo, Manila.
The victim, identified as 25-year-old security guard Kimson Magro of 1440 Antonio Rivera St., Tondo, Manila is in a critical condition after being attacked by six suspects, case investigator PO2 Julius Vincent Libang said.
The victim was reportedly locking up the gate of the building he was guarding on March 11 at around 11 p.m. along 1314 Antonio Rivera St., Tondo, Manila when a group of six men arrived.
The suspects started to punch Magro in different parts of his body. One of the suspects then hacked the victim’s right shoulder with a jungle bolo.
After the incident, the suspects reportedly fled. Meanwhile, another security guard, identified as Robert Villar, spotted the victim and immediately rushed him to the Metropolitan Hospital, where he was treated.
The Moriones-Tondo Police Station is conducting a follow-up investigation to identify and apprehend the suspects. (Hans Amancio)
2 druggies, worker held
Two drug personalities included in the drug watch list and a construction worker were arrested in separate buy-bust operations Sunday night in Manila.
PO1 Rom Thelly Dela Peña, case investigator, identified the construction worker as Jhoevel Triño, 22, , of 919 M. Quezon Blvd., Sta. Cruz, Manila.
Elements of the Barbosa Police Community Precinct were conducting a Simultaneous Anti-Criminality Campaign and Law Enforcement Operation (SACLEO) on March 11 at around 10:40 p.m. along Recto Ave. Brgy. 391 Quiapo, Manila when they spotted Triño.
The suspect was reportedly seated underneath an electrical post and holding an item on his right hand. PO1 Sherwin Palomo then approached the suspect and eventually arrested him after discovering a sachet of shabu on the suspect.
Two other drug personalities included in the drug watch list were arrested Sunday in Tondo, Manila.
PO2 Bob John Lolong, case investigator, identified the suspected drug peddlers as Juan Ramirez, 47, of 2915-B J. Luna St., Gagalangin, Tondo, Manila and Royland Fortaleza, 26, of 364 Zaragosa St. Brgy. 13, Tondo, Manila.
Police authorities seized five pieces of sachets containing shabu with an estimated street value of P4,800 from the suspects, who are currently under the custody of PS-1. (Hans Amancio)
8 drug suspects fall
Violation of city ordinances led to the arrest of eight drug suspects, including a minor, during seperate operations in Caloocan City over the weekend.
First to fall in the hands of the Caloocan police was a 17-year-old out-of-school boy.
Elements from Police Community Precinct (PCP) 1 were conducting Oplan Galugad along Tabon Street in Barangay 185 around 5:30 p.m. Saturday, when they confronted the boy for not wearing a shirt.
However, the boy ran away towards a shanty where he was nabbed by the cops. Upon frisking, a sachet of suspected shabu was recovered from him, said case investigator PO1 Jomar Manalo.
Upon entering the shanty allegedly being used as a alleged drug den, two women identified as Diana Taladua, 36, jobless, and Susan Falconet, 49, were caught allegedly having pot session. Seized from them were two sachets of alleged shabu and drug paraphernalia, Manalo added.
Around 9 p.m. Saturday, authorities from PCP 5 nabbed two construction workers for being half-naked along Champaca Street. They were identified as Valentino Mamorno, 41 and Reynaldo Arellano, 53. Both are residents of Barangay 177 in Camarin.
Investigation showed that two sachets of suspected shabu were seized from Momorno and Arellano during frisking. Both are newly-identified as drug personalities in the area, according to PO1 Aian-Jay Gamayon.
Meanwhile, three drivers who were caught smoking in public place, were also nabbed for alleged possession of illegal drugs along EDSA in Barangay 95 around 3 a.m.Sunday.
They were identified as Ariel Angeles, 44; Alberto Galura, 44; and Apollo Dunca, 40. All residents of Porac in Pampanga.
“They were confronted for smoking and upon frisking, sachets of suspected shabu and drug paraphernalia were recovered from them,” said PO1 Vicmar Endencio.
The police are yet to determine if the three drivers were included in the drug watchlist in their town.
Charges will be filed against the seven suspects while the minor was turned over to the custody of the City Social Welfare and Development. (Kate Louise Javier)
Speeding car hits pedicab driver
A pedicab driver was injured after he was hit by a speeding car along Pulang Lupa, Las Piñas City early morning yesterday.
The victim, identified as Melchor Alcantara, 38, was immediately brought by members of the Las Piñas City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office to the Las Piñas Medical Center after sustaining multiple injuries.
Investigation showed that the incident occurred at around 1 in the morning yesterday. Alcantara was driving his pedicab along the northbound lane of Real St. in Las Piñas when he was suddenly hit by the speeding car.
Due to the impact of the collision, Alcantara was thrown off his pedicab into the road. The victim is currently recuperating from his injuries at the hospital.
The driver of the vehicle was identified as Carl Samson, of legal age and a resident of Tanza, Cavite. He admitted to police that he took a swig before he drove but reiterated that he was only driving slowly.
Samson is now under the custody of the Las Piñas police and will be charged with reckless imprudence resulting in physical injuries. (Dhel Nazario)
Man with two warrants nabbed
A wanted man with two standing warrants of arrest for murder was nabbed by elements of the Taguig City Police yielding 53 grams of shabu in an operation Sunday night.
Police identified the suspect as Eduardo Ferrer, 43, known for different aliases: “Alex”, “Mambo” and “Bambi”, a resident of Central Bicutan, Taguig City.
Ferrer has two standing warrants of arrest for murder issued in October and November 2014 by Judge Noemi Balitaan of Parañaque City Regional Trial Court Branch 258.
Investigation showed that Ferrer was arrested in an operation launched against him around 5:30 p.m. on Sunday at San Juan St. Purok 3 Barangay Central Bicutan in Taguig City.
Upon his arrest, police recovered one caliber .45 pistol loaded with seven live ammunitions. In his sling bag, police recovered three sachets of shabu weighing 53 grams with a street value of P265,000. They also recovered numerous ID’s owned by the suspect, a gold plated necklace, and a scissor.
He will now be facing charges for violation of RA 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act and RA 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act. (Dhel Nazario)
