Church-run Radio Veritas is inviting the faithful to take part in the Stations of the Cross at the Our Lady of Veritas Chapel in Quezon City every Friday at 11:30 a.m. which will be followed by a Holy Mass.
Radio Veritas president and Caritas Manila executive director Rev. Fr. Anton Pascual invited the faithful to make the praying of the Stations of the Cross part of their Lenten observance.
“We are calling all the faithful to come and join us in our prayers for the Stations of the Cross. Let us take the season of Lent as an opportunity to reflect on the sacrifices of our Savior by offering our time and ourselves to Him through prayers and sacrifice,” Pascual said.
The Stations or Way of the Cross is a 14-step Catholic devotion that commemorates the passion and death of Jesus Christ. Each station focuses on a specific event of His suffering, beginning with His condemnation. The stations are commonly offered as a mini-pilgrimage by pious individuals as they pray and meditate from one station to another. Specific prayers are recited, and afterwards, the individual moves to the next station until all 14 are completed.
The praying of the Stations of the Cross is traditionally done during Wednesdays and Fridays of Lent, and during the Holy Week, particularly on Good Friday.
