More than 130 individuals were hired on the spot (HOTS) during the Trabaho, Negosyo, Kabuhayan (TNK) job fair of the Department of Labor and Employment held at the Quezon City Hall today.

“There were reports that there were those hired-on-the-spot and that they will start reporting for work tomorrow. We are happy about that,” Dominique Tutay, DOLE Bureau of Local Employment director, said in an interview.

“We have 51 participating employers today and most of the job vacancies for overseas particularly in Australia, New Zealand, Qatar and UAE,” she added.

Based on the information provided by DOLE, of the 133 HOTS, 64 are males while 69 are females this was as of 3 pm.

For near-hire applicants or those who still need to undergo additional interview or submit requirements, 1,594 are for local and 507 for overseas employment.

More than 16,000 jobs were made available to job seekers today or 4,156 for local and 12,000 for overseas.

The top vacancies for local employment were promo staff/specialist, finishing mason, cashier, merchandiser, sales clerk, pharmaceutical assistant, carwash helper, sales associate professional, warehouse staff and tile setter.

For overseas deployment the top 10 vacancies were maintenance fitter, fitter general manufacturer (Australia); scaffolder (New Zealand); carpenter (New Zealand); production worker (Taiwan); waitress/ground steward (Qatar); staff nurse (Qatar); electrical technician (UAE); engineers (Bahrain); salesman/saleslady (Qatar) and laborer (UAE).

Tutay said jobseekers who failed to go to the TNK event need not worry since there will be other job fairs soon.

“We will have another job fair this March in Pasay City, and also on May 1 and June 12,” she said.

Tutay said jobseekers may also visit the PhilJobnet website for the schedule of job fairs.

The DOLE job fair was held in celebration of the 32nd anniversary of the EDSA People Power Revolution.
