The Department of Justice (DOJ) is set to erect a new regional office building in Davao City.
DOJ Undersecretary Erickson Balmes said this was made possible following an agreement between the department and the Davao City local government.
Balmes said just this Friday Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio signed a memorandum of agreement (MOA) permitting the department to construct a building on a property owned by the city government.
The undersecretary said the MOA will allow “DOJ to have usufruct over 500 square meters of land for DOH Regional Building for Region XI.”
Earlier, Aguirre bared plans to erect buildings this year for various regional offices of the DOJ.
“It is our fondest hopes that we can construct a home for your DOJ in every region or province in the country,” he had said.
“It has always been our avowed purpose to improve your DOJ, to make it better than when we found it,” he also said.
Just last February 21, Aguirre headed a groundbreaking ceremony at the construction site in Tuguegarao City for a DOJ regional office.
The secretary has already made several groundbreaking ceremonies this year for the construction of new DOJ buildings.
Last January 17, Aguirre jumpstarted with the groundbreaking ceremony for the DOJ Administration Building at the DOJ headquarters in Manila.
This was followed on January 19 with the groundbreaking ceremony for the DOJ Academy and Training Center located in Brgy. Maginhawa in Tagaytay City.
Then, on January 30, a groundbreaking ceremony for the DOJ building for the Province of Quezon was also held.
