Buluan, Maguindanao – Agriculture Secretary Manny Piñol inaugurated the country’s first halal hatchery here, coinciding with the weeklong Second Inaul Festival in the province.
Piñol and officials, led by Maguindanao Gov. Esmael Mangudadatu, projected that the hatchery will help benefit a huge majority of the province’s residents, even as he also described the annual festival as an effective avenue in unifying cultural and political diversities in the province.
He said the modern hatchery and the fortified inaul-making industry in the province provided opportunities for local households to have additional incomes from raising chicken and weaving fabrics to augment their farming livelihood.
Piñol led the inaugural operation on Saturday of the hatchery plant established by the Mangudadatu clan in partnership with local and foreign investors to initially produce 60,000 chicks per week and help supply Maguindanao’s 36 towns.
