ILOILO CITY — With tropical storm “Basyang,” residents of Western Visayas region are warned of flooding from light but continuing rainfall and isolated thunderstorms.
The Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (RDRRMC-6) released an advisory for possible flooding in identified areas of five provinces.
Office of Civil Defense (OCD-6) regional director Jose Roberto Nuñez said risky areas are those near rivers and its tributaries.
The provinces and their risky areas are as follows: Antique — near river systems of Cagaranan, Cairauan, Dalanas, Ipayo, Palawan, Sibalom and Tibiao; Capiz — near river systems of Alingon, Balantian, Mambusao, Panay, amd Panay Malinao; Aklan — near the river systems of Aklan, Jalo and Ibajay; Iloilo — along the river systems of Akalaygan, Barotac, Guimbal, Jagdong, Jalano, Jalaud, Jalaur, Jaro-Aganan, Lamunan, Pinantan, and Sibalom; and Negros Occidental — near river systems of Danao, Grande, Himocaan, Lower Ilog, Malogo, Sicaba and Upper Tyabanan.
Classes have also been suspended today in Iloilo City, Bacolod City, Roxas City, Escalante City, and Dumalag in Capiz province.
