Cebu City – President Duterte will visit Cebu Monday to set up the Malasakit Center at the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center and attend a joint command conference of the police and military.
Central Visayas police regional director Chief Superintendent Roberto Quenery said they will implement maximum security during the President’s visit.
Quenery said the police needs to adjust security measures because the President doesn’t want to hamper the day-to-day activities of Cebuanos. The regional police is waiting for the arrival of the Presidential Security Group and protocol teams for the final briefing for the visit.
Quenery said he expects militant groups to hold protest rallies on that day.
The regional police also coordinated with the Cebu City Transportation Office (CCTO) for the closure of R. Landon Street on Monday. R. Landon will serve as the parking area for vehicles involved in the Malasakit Center ceremony and the joint command conference.
CCTO operations chief Francisco Ouano said he expects heavy traffic on Osmeña Boulevard and nearby areas once the street is closed for the entire day beginning at 6 a.m..
The President will unveil the marker for the Malasakit Center before proceeding to the regional police office for the command conference and the turnover of vehicles to the police.
He is also expected to meet with mayors from Visayas and Mindanao at a gathering spearheaded by Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG).
