Panglao, Bohol –A 52-year-old South Korean tourist was killed after she accidentally fell off a pumpboat and was struck by the boat’s propeller in the waters off this town last Monday.
The incident was only reported to the local police the following day by Noel Christopher Arboleras, the owner of the Palm Island Tour 2 pumpboat.
A follow-up investigation by PO2 Reynante Fucolan of the Panglao police identified the victim as Hyangnam Jung.
Jung was with a group of 13 Korean tourists who were travelling from Balicasag Island to Virgin Island in this town when she fell overboard Friday morning.
She was sitting on the edge of the boat when she lost her balance and fell off. She was hit by the propeller causing a large gash on her leg.
Aided by a tourist guide, Jung was taken to the Borja Family Hospital in Tagbilaran City.
She died Monday morning.
Fucolan said Jung may have died of severe bleeding.
Local police are trying to establish if there was negligence on the part of the boat operator.
