BATANGAS CITY, Batangas — Up to P11 million in cash and jewelry was looted from a pawnshop in this city and by the way the burglars dug a tunnel into the establishment, police pointed blame to the “Termite Gang.”
Superintendent Wildemar Tiu, city police chief, said the burglary at the Golden Sun Jewelry shop on Evangelista Street, Barangay 16, here was only discovered at 8:10 a.m.
Tiu said the burglary at the pawnshop owned by Adelaida Señosa, 54, was easily pulled off as there were no closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras nor security guards detailed at the shop.
Probers have found and collected a manual drill, jack, wooden blocks and other paraphernalia inside the tunnel they dug underneath the pawnshop.
Tiu said probers have as one of their leads CCTV footage from across the street that captured two persons of interest boarding a motorcycle on the night of the crime.
