Davao City – Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio said she has already approved the proposal of Davao City Police Office head Sr. Supt. Alexander Tagum to expand the police force here.
Carpio told reporters in an interview that she has already told the City Council’s Peace and Order Committee to pass a resolution supporting the city’s request to the national leadership of the Philippine National Police (PNP) for the expansion of the DCPO.
Once approved by the PNP, Carpio said the city will have more policemen and other additional police personnel to secure the entire city of Davao, the hometown of President Rodrigo R. Duterte.
She hopes the expansion would be realized within the year, although it would depend on the available resources of the PNP, to strengthen the security of the city since it becomes more challenging to secure a big city with a growing population.
“We need this expanded DCPO because the city is really big and the population of Davao City – residents and tourists – are increasing plus the fact that this is where the President lives,” Carpio said.
