Seven hundred forty five members of the elite Philippine National Police – Special Action Force (PNP – SAF) and eight other police officers were granted meritorious promotion by the PNP yesterday at the Camp Crame in Quezon City for their courage in thwarting ISIS-inspired Maute Group terrorists in Marawi City and the successful defense of the Binuangan municipal police station in Misamis Oriental which was attacked by suspected New People’s Army (NPA) rebels last year.
PNP chief Director General Ronald dela Rosa, in underscoring the bravery and heroism of the police officers, said critics have no right to question the promotion of the 753 officers because what they did was not only for themselves but for the whole police organization and the country.
” If there is anybody who would question me, my authority to have you promoted meritoriously, I will punch them in the face because they do not know the hard work you did,” Dela Rosa said in the vernacular.
The 745 newly-promoted SAF troopers who helped in the liberation of Marawi City were led by Chief Inspector Marlon Ancheta, who was promoted to a rank of Superintendent along with 14 others.
