Iloilo City – Flights to and from Clark in Angeles City, Pampanga is the newest route offered at Iloilo International Airport.
“This can surely bring more travel and business opportunities to Iloilo,” said Helen Catalbas, Western Visayas regional director of Department of Tourism (DOT).
The Iloilo-Clark and vice versa flights of budget airline AirAsia kicked off February 3. These direct flights are on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
“Clark is being considered as one of major hubs in the country and gateway to international destinations,” added Catalbas.
The Clark route is also seen to boost the number of foreign visitors to Iloilo since the Iloilo International Airport only handles international flights to and from Hong Kong and Singapore.
To ensure sustainability in the domestic market, the Western Visayas and Central Luzon regional offices of DOT will conduct business-to-business sessions between tour operators and hotel industry players.
AirAsia started operations in Iloilo last October with flights to and from Manila.
