Tacloban City – More than P8 million worth of piggery projects were turned over to the barangay associations in Leyte province.
Leyte Governor Leopoldo Dominico L. Petilla, who led the turnover ceremonies for the swine breeders, told Manila Bulletin the projects were made possible in partnership with the Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA) regional office based in Palo, Leyte.
Petilla said the beneficiaries are eight barangay associations from the barangays of San Pablo, Tabon-Tabon, Esperanza in the town of Burauen; Tigbao in Dulag town; Lanawan, MacArthur town; Hipusngo, Baybay City; District 4 in the municipality of Babatngon; and Macanip, Jaro town.
Each association was given one boar worth P75,000 and 20 female breeders worth P35,000 each.
Other costs involved were feeds, veterinary supplies and the construction of the piggery house.
