12-year-old sold for sex by neighbor
A woman was arrested Monday for sexually exploiting her 12-year-old neighbor for not more than P400.
Police reported that the 20-year-old suspect, Apple Garcia Enriquez of Barangay 105, Vitas, Tondo, Manila, had been selling the young girl to numerous customers for money.
The victim’s last booking was last January 29 at 3 p.m. with an unidentified customer.
The victim’s mother sought the help of Smokey Mountain Police Community Precinct, along with other affiliated barangay officials upon discovering the exploitation..
Enriquez was arrested by authorities in front of her apartment where she was identified by the victim.
Authorities assisted the minor, along with her mother, as the girl underwent various physical and psychological examinations at the Philippine General Hospital.
Appropriate charges are yet to be filed against Enriquez. (Hans Amancio)
Stolen female garments in man’s pants
A middle-aged man was caught shoplifting two pieces of female underwear in Quiapo, Manila on Monday
The suspect, identified by the police as 51-year-old Joel Buenaflor Novero of Sampaloc, Manila, reportedly entered the Ximiso Phil. Inc., store located at the Isetan Mall’s Recto Branch, stole the undergarments, and hid the stolen items inside his pants.
Novero was about to leave the store when store supervisor Ronnel Irinco Acebuche spotted him.
Acebuche then sought the help of a security guard who found out that the suspect had no proof of payment for the garments.
Police authorities brought Novero to Jose Reyes Memorial Medical Center for medical examination and subsequently to the Sta. Cruz Police Station for further investigation.
The stolen items, reportedly worth P129 each, were recovered. (Hans Amancio)
Man found dead in rented room
A 60-year-old man was found lifeless inside his rented room in Sta. Cruz, Manila, on Monday. Police said the victim may have suffered a heart attack.
Lorenzo Enriquez had complained that he was feeling ill a day before he was found dead on his folding bed inside his rented room along Makata Street around 2:30 p.m., said SPO2 Lester Evangelista, case investigator of Manila Police District- Homicide division.
Marieta Dacanay, 63, Enriquez’ landlady, told probers that she heard Enriquez and her sister-in-law talking last Sunday.The sister-in-law asked Enriquez what happened to his face after she observed that it was swollen and had a wound on his right eyebrow.
Enriquez replied that he suddenly passed out and lost his balance. The old man had been also complaining that his heart was beating real fast and that he was diagnosed with an enlarged heart, Dacanay told investigators.
On Monday, Dacanay said that she was worried about Enriquez’ condition after she had not seen the latter leaving his room. Dacanay then instructed someone to check her tenant inside his room, only to find out that the old man was already dead.
Police said that Enriquez’ body was brought to Archangel Funeral Homes for autopsy. (Analou De Vera)
