BUTUAN CITY – Two mild tectonic earthquakes jolted Davao Oriental Saturday morning, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
In its bulletin, Phivolcs said a 3.9 magnitude tremor was registered at 9:08 a.m.
The epicenter was plotted 18 kilometers (km.) southeast of Cateel, Davao Oriental.
The tremor had a depth of 66 km., it said.
Earlier, at 5:03 a.m., a 2.9 magnitude earthquake was also recorded, Phivolcs said.
The epicenter was traced 159 km. southeast of Governor Generoso town of that same province, it also said.
The earthquake had a depth of 51 km., Phivolcs said.
No tsunami alert was raised by the state agency.
The Southern Mindanao Office of Civil Defense and Davao Oriental provincial disaster risk reduction and management council said no serious damage, injuries or fatalities were reported.
