DENR, JCI join hands to rehabilitate Cagayan forests

Updated

By Ellalyn De Vera-Ruiz

The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) has partnered with an international non-governmental organization (NGO) to pursue the rehabilitation of open and degraded forestlands in Cagayan Valley.

The Junior Chamber International (JCI) Cagayan Valley formalized its partnership with DENR-Region 2 through a memorandum of agreement (MOA) signed by the two parties for the “InfiniTREE Growing Project.”

In support of the National Greening Program (NGP), this will be implemented until 2020 in the provinces of Cagayan and Isabela within areas to be identified by the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Offices.

As agreed upon, JCI will shoulder the budgetary requirements of the project.

It will allocate funds for the various activities, such as site preparation, seedling production, hauling of seedlings to planting sites including the maintenance and protection of established plantations.
