DAVAO CITY – President Duterte today accepted the resignation of his son Paolo Duterte as Davao City Vice Mayor.
The announcement was made by Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque, weeks after the Vice Mayor made a tearful exit at a special session last month.
Meanwhile, the city government will await the certification of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) on the ranking councilors according to the order of the most number of votes garnered over a total number of voters per district.
If the ranking is based on all candidates, the contenders are Councilors Bernard Al-ag (3rd District), Marissa Salvador-Abella (2nd District), and Ma. Cherry Bonguyan (2nd District).
If the choices would be based on the highest ranking per district, it would be a choice among Al-ag, Abella, and first district Councilor Ma. Belen Acosta.
The ranking is based on a document certified by former DILG city director Merilo Limbaro immediately after the 2016 elections.
Meanwhile, Al-ag said the city council will hold necessary elections to adjust the committee leaderships on the next regular session next week, and once the affirmation of the resignation is transmitted to the Sangguniang Panlungsod.
