Armed Forces of the Philippines-Public Affairs Office (AFP-PAO) chief Lt. Col. Emmanuel Garcia, said the casualty figure was based on intelligence reports received by military commanders in the field.
Garcia said the airstrike was conducted at about 9:40 p.m. of Christmas day, following the attack staged by BIFF members in a Teduray Community at Sitio Makon, Brgy. Iginampong, Datu Unsay, Maguindanao.
“Air strike operation was launched after a reported burning of two houses made of light materials in a Teduray Community at Sitio Makon, Brgy Iginampong, Datu Unsay, Maguindanao by a BIFF,” said Garcia, quoting a report coming from the 6th Infantry Division Public Affairs Office.
Garcia said civilian residents of the community fled for safety to sitio Bagong of that barangay reported the incident to the nearest Army detachment.
Government forces immediately launched the airstrike to repulse the enemy.
“The air strike operations resulted in the killing of four BIFF men, while five others were wounded, based on the intelligence reports,” Garcia said.
