The Philippine National Police (PNP) has promised its best performance as a way of showing gratitude to the Duterte administration’s move to double the salary of soldiers and cops.
In a statement, the PNP said the best performance they vowed to give the Filipino people includes sacrificing their own lives for the sake of maintaining peace and order in the country.
“For our part, we can only offer our best performance of duty to humbly deserve this recognition by our people even at the cost of our lives,” the PNP said in a statement.
Chief Supt. Dionardo Carlos, PNP spokesman, said they are thankful that the legislative action was already approved by the Senate.
The Joint Resolution No. 11, sponsored by Senator Gregorio Honasan, has been approved by 20 senators last week in the third and final reading of the said measure.
The legislative measure provides up to 100-percent increase to the basic salary of military and other uniformed personnel.
“The resolution is a fitting recognition of the selfless service and sacrifice of the officers and rank and file members of the organization,” said Carlos.
The increase in the salary of soldiers and policemen was a campaign promise of President Duterte and expected to enact into law next year.
As the Senate explains, the basic salary of Police Officer 1 would be ramped up to 100 percent and to other equivalent ranks.
