Tanauan, Leyte – Governor Leopoldo Dominico L. Petilla said that for now he is not contemplating the takeover of Balyuan Park from the Tacloban City government.
Petilla told Manila Bulletin that he will wait first for a court to decide on the ownership of the park before taking action.
Balyuan Park is the site of many city government offices and is used as an entertainment park by Tacloban during the June 30 city fiesta.
Several years ago, former Mayor Alfredo T. Romualdez Sr. barricaded the park’s entrance with heavy equipment to prevent the provincial government from taking over the property.
Romualdez made the move after a local court ruled in favor of the provincial government in the ownership case.
