Camp Rafael C. Rodriguez, Butuan City – Field unit commanders of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and Northeastern Mindanao Police Regional Office 13 (PRO 13) have already started close coordination for a “well coordinated offensive operation” against the New People’s Army (NPA) on the occasion of the 49th anniversary celebration of the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP).
With still a week before the December 26 CPP anniversary, battalion commanders under the operational control of the Army’s 401st Infantry (Unity) Brigade covering the provinces of Agusan del Sur and Surigao del Sur; the 402nd Infantry (Stingers) Brigade, which has battalions assigned to provinces of Surigao del Norte, Agusan del Norte and Dinagat Islands; and police regional, provincial, city and municipal directors in Region 13 have already positioned their coordinated tactical movement and operations against the NPA, which is the armed wing of the CPP.
Other operational control (Opcon) unit commanders of 401st and 402nd Brigades and PRO 13 are also in close coordination for possible tactical offensives against the NPAs.
“Absolutely, our field units are already closely coordinating fo one goal – to stop any terroristic activities or any threat by this NPA terrorists,” stressed PRO 13 Regional Spokesperson Chief Insp. Renel E. Serrano, in an exclusive interview with The Manila Bulletin on Wednesday.
He said field unit officials of PRO 13, under the leadership Regional Director Chief Supt. Noli A. Romana and field unit commanders under Northeastern and Northern Mindanao 4th Infantry (Diamond) Division (4th ID) chief, Maj. Gen. Ronald C. Villanueva, were already discussing a well coordinated operation against the CPP-NPA terrorists.
