Iloilo City — The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) recently distributed P4.24 million worth of farmland to 77 farmers in Iloilo province.
Director Leomides Villareal, chief of DAR’s Public Assistance and Media Relations Service (PAMRS), said the Duterte administration is speeding up distribution of free farmlands to qualified beneficiaries.
The 77 Ilonggo farmers waited for almost 20 years to be issued Certificates of Land Ownership Award (CLOAs).
Among the beneficiaries were two widowed mothers who received CLOAs on behalf of their husbands who died before seeing their families being able to till their rightfully owned lands.
Rosena Malco, who is 74 and whose husband died in 1999, expressed joy that her family’s struggles have finally paid off.
According to DAR Assistant Regional Director Florentino Siladan, the CLOAs covered a total area of 70.8090 hectares.
