Extended martial law arrests net 18 fugitives

Davao City – Authorities here arrested 18 wanted fugitives after the first Oplan Bulabog conducted after Congress allowed the extension of martial law in Mindanao, according to the Davao City Police Office.

Arrested were Celio U. Mangguiob, Joseph T. Ondona, Ivan  Herwela, Siberiano L. Gelia, Cleo B. Calleso, Mario I. Nguho, Adonis I. Nguho, Reynaldo D. Datuin, Wilfredo D. Datuin- for violation of PD 1602 or anti-illegal gambling act; Arabella A. Lanojan for Grave Slander; John Doreen Cadiz for Murder and Physical Injuries; Leo Zapanta for Robbery; Danilo R. Palermo and Maximu P. Secuya for violation of RA 9262 or anti-violence against women and children act; Benjie Duropan for Frustrated Murder; Noel S. Saura and Gaudencio N. Hadlocon for Reckless Imprudence Resulting to Homicide; and Arnel C. Preglo for violation of PD 1602.

The operation was held early morning Thursday, a day after Congress agreed to the request of President Rodrigo Duterte to extend martial law.

“The series of operations resulted in the ID Check/ profiling of 1,889 residents among them 1,638 individuals with ID and 251 without ID and the arrest of eighteen (18) wanted/ fugitive persons by virtue of Warrants of Arrest for various serious criminal cases,” the DCPO said.

The roundups were held in different barangays in Agdao, Brgy. 38D, Matina, Sasa, Buhangin, Tibungko, Toril, Tugbok, and Calinan.

The roundup ended at 9 a.m., Sr. Supt. Alexander Tagum said.
