Cagayan De Oro City – A Philippine Air Force (PAF) sergeant was shot dead by another airman during a drinking session at about 10:45 p.m. Friday in the PAF headquarters here in Barangay Lumbia.
The police identified the victim as SSgt. Renante Felerca Blanco, 39 years old, married, and a resident of 3020 Phantom St. Airwolf Village, Pulung Maragul, Angeles City, Pampanga.
His assailant was identified as Airman Second class Reymart Jayme Noquera, 26, married, and a resident of Fairview, Quezon City.
Police probers said Noquera used his government-issued M-16 Elisco assault rifle in shooting Blanco.
Both the victim and the suspect were assigned with the PAF team assigned at Lumbia Airport, here.
The victim sustained a lone gunshot wound in the head, and was rushed to the Fourth Infantry Division Hospital in Patag here but was pronounced dead on arrival by the attending physician at around 12:15 a.m. yesterday.
Recovered from the crime scene were 16 5.56-caliber empty shells.
Police said the duo were having a drinking session at the back of the PAF headquarters when a colleague, A2C Alijani Sapayani, heard that the two having a heated argument. Following that a series of gunfire was heard.
The suspect has been placed under the custody of the 4th ID, while the M-16 rifle was taken by the Police Station 8 here.
