SkyJet Airlines will launch its first direct flight from Manila to Camiguin island today, December 8.
Gracing the inauguration are Miss Universe beauty queens from China, United Kingdom, Malaysia, Italy and our very own, Miss Universe-Philippines Rachel Peters who are flying to the island to explore its wonders.
Together with the Department of Tourism (DOT), SkyJet Airlines is positive that the direct flights from Manila to Camiguin shall boost the tourism potential of the island.
Tourism Secretary Wanda Teo said that the best ambassadors of Philippine Tourism are the Miss Universe beauties, considering their large following from different parts of the world.
Camiguin, also known as the island born of fire, has captured the attention of the netizens when the Camiguin Provincial Tourism Council released a viral promotional video featuring the island’s indescribable splendor.
Hitting more than a million views after its release, the island is now bound to become a top destination in the country.
“We will continue with our mission of serving the underserved local destinations and exploring the unexplored islands in the Philippines!” said Dino Reyes-Chua, president of SkyJet Airlines.
SkyJet Airlines’ direct flights from Manila to Camiguin will officially start on Febuary 2018.
Today’s maiden flight is the kickoff of SkyJet’s newest route with direct flights from Manila.
“No more stopovers in Cebu and Cagayan de Oro. Camiguin will just be 60 minutes away from Manila,” said Congressman XJ Romualdo of Lone District of Camiguin.
The newly crowned Miss Universe 2017 Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters of South Africa and her predecessor Miss Universe 2016 Iris Mittenaere, together with 14 other beauties, are touring the Philippines from December 6 to 10. Other destinations included in their tour are Batanes and Bohol.
