Bagac, Bataan- Las Casas Filipinas de Acuzar, a world-class resort hotel here that highlights traditional Filipino culture and heritage, touched off its Christmas season festivities with the ceremonial lighting of colorful giant lanterns before a good weekend crowd. The lighting of the Christmas lanterns was led by Jose ‘Gerry’ Acuzar, a construction magnate and owner of Las Casas, Vicky Sandejas-Garcia, mother of Bataan Gov. Abet Garcia; Chairman and administrator Emmanuel Pineda of Bataan Freeport and other guests. Acuzar told the Manila Bulletin that the beach resort had its very first Christmas lighting installation featuring heir in-house artists from Bellas Artes, a non-profit art foundation, saying this was part of the resort’s program to entertain the public. The unique Christmas tree is made from coconut leaves shaped into grasshoppers. It is also studded with traditional star ‘parols’.
