Iloilo City – Following its return to Western Visayas, Negros Occidental will host the fourth quarter meeting of the Regional Development Council (RDC).

Ro-Ann Bacal, Western Visayas director of the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA), said Secretary Mark Villar of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) cannot attend the meeting in Talisay City.

Villar is supposed to give updates and tackle the “Build, Build, Build” program of the Duterte administration.

Bacal said Western Visayas has several big-ticket projects, including the P30.4-billion upgrading of the Iloilo International Airport, the P27.15-billion construction of the Panay-Guimaras-Negros bridges and the P19.3-billion Panay River Basin Integrated Development Project in Capiz.

Chaired by Antique Governor Rhodora Cadiao, the council will also discuss the peace and order situation, infrastructure development, investment competitiveness, economic development, social development, and the regional gender situation.

It will also honor Regional Directors Rosario Cabrera of the Office of Civil Defense (OCD), Janet Mesa of the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) regional office, and Antonio Labios, Visayas regional field officer of Department of Energy (DOE).
