The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) is equipping 20 of its traffic enforcers with donated body cameras which can provide evidence during apprehension of traffic violators on the road.
MMDA Chairman Danilo Lim said the body cameras are a big boost to the agency’s campaign against corruption within and outside the agency.
“The body camera is a big help to traffic enforcers while performing their duties. Most of the time, they are the ones being complained for extortion,” said Lim.
With the body cameras, traffic enforcers can monitor and record incidents and interactions happening during operations and apprehensions of violators, he added.
Traffic enforcers deployed on choke points along EDSA are the recipients of the body cameras worth R9980.
“Both ways, we can also use the body cameras in going after errant road users,” said Lim who received the body cameras from Ferwin Lao, vice president of Worx Group of Companies during turnover ceremonies on Thursday.
