The Philippine Air Force (PAF) has a new chief following the designation of Armed Forces of the Philippines-Western Command (AFP-WestCom) chief Lt. General Galileo Gerard Rio Kintanar Jr. to the post.
AFP Chief of Staff General Eduardo Año said Kintanar will replace outgoing PAF chief Lt. Gen. Edgar R. Fallorina who is set to retire from the service at the age of 56.
The change of command and retirement ceremony is set to take place at 2 p.m. today (October 24, 2017) at the Haribon Hangar, Air Force City, Clark Air Base, Mabalacat City, Pampanga.
No less than President Duterte, the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, is the presiding officer.
Kintanar, who is a member of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) Sandiwa Class of 1985, is described by Año as a silent worker and very good at his job.
“He is a strategic thinker and also a tested and ace pilot of the Philippine Air Force,” Año said.
