The construction of the Sisim Bridge that links Isabela and Quirino in Region 2 is now completed, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) announced recently.
The bridge spans along the Junction Ipil-Quirino Road (Cordon-Madella Road) in San Agustin, Isabela.
DPWH Secretary Mark Villar said the P52.2-million project covered the construction of a new 50-lineal meter bridge, replacing the old Sisim Bridge.
The new bridge will play a major function in the interplay of agricultural, industrial and tourism growth and exchanges between the municipalities of San Agustin, Jones, and Echague in Isabela and towns of Madella and Nagtipunan in Quirino, Region 2 Director Melanio Briosos said.
Briosos said the deteriorating condition of the old bridge prompted the agency to build its replacement in order to sustain the demands of transport activities in the area.
