A fire broke-out in a four-storey supermarket building in Paco, Manila early Wednesday morning.
The Manila Bureau of Fire Protection said that the fire originated at the second floor of Cligan Mart, along A. Linao Street, about 5:39 a.m.
The floor was used as a stock room where flammable materials such as alcohol products were stored.
The conflagration reached the third alarm status before it was declared under control at around 10:30 a.m.
One of the responding firefighters, FO3 Marlon Podolig, sustained first degree burns below his nose. Meanwhile, the establishment’s stay-in workers, around 30 individuals, were safely evacuated.
The Manila Traffic and Parking Bureau (MTPB) closed down the stretch of Angel Linao Street, from Pedro Gil to Nakpil Streets, as firefighters continued to fully contain the blaze.
Arson investigators have yet to determine the cause of the fire as well as the total cost of damage.
