The police are still clueless on the whereabouts of the Valenzuela police officer who was abducted by still unidentified gunmen in Caloocan City Thursday night.
Chief Inspector Ilustre Mendoza, Caloocan City Police officer-in-charge, said Police Officer 1 Jomar Reyes, who was seized along Mariano Street near EDSA in Bagong Barrio, Caloocan City at around 6 p.m last August 24, is still missing.
“We made a formal request to the Highway Patrol Group (HPG). Maybe they had received a report regarding previous carnapped vehicle,” Mendoza said in a television interview.
The missing police officer’s wife told investigators that her husband left their residence after he received a call from a colleague, PO2 Demetrio Ramilo of Nothern Police District.
According to her husband, he will meet Ramilo along EDSA.
Witnesses said that when Reyes got stuck in traffic, at least five gunmen alighted from a van and forcibly took the victim with them.
Johnny Ramat, Barangay 135 chairman, said they thought that policemen were the ones who seized Reyes.
“Pinosasan siya kaya ang alam namin pulis ang kumuha sa kanya (He was handcuffed, that’s why we thought that policemen were the ones who seized him),” Ramat said.
